Margery Lovett

Margery Lovett

Margery Lovett was a London baker who ran a pie shop in Bell Yard. She was a lover and accomplice of the serial killer Sweeney Todd.

In Victorian era penny dreadfuls, Lovett fulfilled the European archetype of a witch who cooks human flesh. By all accounts, her pies were the most delicious in London.

In the Eleven-Day Empire's Feast of Fools, Lovett was portrayed by a Mother of the Ritual Wing during the L'Amoureux ritual. The parade passed through Sweeney Todd's barbershop to the catacombs under St Dunstan's Church and out through Lovett's pie shop.
