A martian ambassador was dispatched to Earth from Mars after the disappearance of all but one of Mars' pyramids. During his trip, the extensive canal system of Mars vanished as well, prompting them to seek out the assistance of Sherlock Holmes. Soon after they too vanished, becoming part of the narrative of The War of the Worlds. (PROSE: The Book of the Enemy)
