Master was a title which was claimed by the renegade Time Lord known as the Master, to the point that he asserted it as his name. (TV: Utopia, The Sound of Drums) After regenerating into a female form, the Master took the name Missy, short for Mistress. (TV: Dark Water)

The Master regarded the human race, after they had been all but transformed into duplicates of himself, as a master race, literally known as the Master Race. (TV: The End of Time)

(TV: Journey's End) In addition, K9 Mark IV addressed Clyde Langer as "Master Clyde" (TV: The Mad Woman in the Attic etc.) and Luke Smith as "Master Luke". (TV: The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith etc.) K9 Mark 2, the regenerated form of K9 Mark I, exclusively addressed Starkey as "Young Master". (TV: Regeneration)

The Dominators claimed themselves to be the "Masters of the Ten Galaxies", (TV: The Dominators) although the claim went unchallenged (PROSE: Mutually Assured Domination) and William Bishop later wondered if it was simply propaganda. (PROSE: The Two Brigadiers)

Master was one of the two social classes of Cerulian society, alongside the Scribes. The Masters incorporated cerulium into bracelets and used them to control the Scribes, which they would use as slaves. Eventually a symbiotic relationship developed between the two; the Master was enchanted by the Scribes, who had no thought but to compliment and assist the Master.
