Matthewson was one of Vislor Turlough's peers at Brendon Public School in the 1980s. During Turlough's period of imprisonment and torture at the hands of the Jex, he remembered Matthewson, as well as Ibbotson, Bolam, McMullen, Pradie, Rogerson, Shaw major, Shaw minor and Watt.
