Maurice Askew (12 May 1916-11 December 1986[1]) was credited with "sound" for most of the supermarionation television series Thunderbirds. This included the first series episode The Man from MI.5, which crossed over into the Doctor Who universe by featuring an appearance by the Daleks. He worked as a sound mixer for Thunderbirds Are Go.

Askew was involved in several other creations of Gerry Anderson which shared crossovers with the DWU. He had earlier been credited with sound for all thirty-nine episodes of Stingray and was a sound recordist for several episodes of Fireball XL5. He also fulfilled the latter role on the 1960 film Crossroads to Crime, another Anderson production but not one which shared any connection to Doctor Who.

Askew's other notable work includes credits for the James Bond films, as a sound recordist for Thunderball and as a re-recording mixer for On Her Majesty's Secret Service. He also worked as a sound recordist for The Day of the Triffids, as a sound effects editor for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and as a dubbing mixer for the 1974 film Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, the same year which saw an end to a career begun in 1948.
