The Retreat was a workhouse that was converted into an asylum in the 19th century. In the early 20th century it was known as Mausolus House. Abandoned for several years, it was reopened in the 21st century as a mental health facility. It was visited by the Eighth Doctor, Fitz Kreiner and Trix MacMillan. (PROSE: The Sleep of Reason)
