Private Maynard was a UNIT soldier during a set of invasions caused by the Reborn Master. After encountering Mind Leeches and Skyheads, he met the Seventh Doctor in Germany, after being attacked by Lava Spiders. Maynard was frightened by the Lava Spiders.
When the Master's Tolians attacked UNIT HQ, Maynard was part of Sergeant Wilson's laser defence team but they were repulsed. Maynard was killed before the base could be put on lockdown. (AUDIO: Dominion)
