The Ministry of Technology was a branch of the British government. It was responsible for founding and running the Vault in the 1960s as part of Harold Wilson's mandate to advance national technology and industry. According to General Oliver Hamilton, the Ministry was actually part of a much larger secret government organisation known as Department C19, a fact obscure even to Wilson.
