Molecular fringe animation was a process used in the animated scarecrows by Son of Mine. (TV: The Family of Blood)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Time Traveller's Almanac, which is not a valid source for in universe articles, revealed how molecular fringe animation worked — Son of Mine was used as a mental source to pinpoint the scarecrows. Background radiation was reflected from Son of Mine through a cerebral impulse and transmitted to the scarecrows. This made an alternate energy pattern, which stimulated the scarecrows at a molecular level and activated them. Their physical movement was mainly autonomous and took its cue from Son of Mine. Although the process was successfully carried out, scarecrows couldn't escape the constraints of their physical composition, meaning movement was effective, but not perfect.
