Mr Benn was a series of children's books written and illustrated by David McKee in the 1960s, which were adapted into an animated television series for the BBC that ran from 1971 to 1972.

The series stars the titular Mr Benn, a man wearing a black suit and a bowler hat, who lives at 52 Festive Road. In each episode, he visits a costume shop where he is invited by the shopkeeper to try on a different outfit. Mr Benn then leaves the shop through a magic door at the back of the changing room that leads to a world appropriate to his costume, returning home at the end of the episode with a memento from his adventure.
