Nardos was an alien being. It protected Angus Renwick's family throughout the ages. He was on the planet as a merchant. It wanted to open the planet as it was the bolt hole for it's species bounty. He wanted to sell the energy stored up in the planet and destroy it. (AUDIO: The Helm of Awe)
