The New New York Police Department (NNYPD) was the police force of New New York, New Earth. In 5,000,000,023, they apprehended the Sisters of Plenitude for creating artificial humans to experiment treatments for diseases. (TV: New Earth)
Six years afterwards, the NNYPD and almost every other service in New New York shut down as the entire Senate had been killed by a virus which had mutated out of a mood drug and had gone out of control. The phone service was still in operation, but the callers were placed on hold permanently because there was nobody to answer it.
The force was presumably reinstated after the Motorway was opened and the city repopulated after twenty-four years trapped below ground. (TV: Gridlock)
