A newsreader read the news on the 20 February 1980 about an explosion in Blackcastle and said that the Ministry of Defence would not comment on military manoeuvres in Stockbridge. (AUDIO: Doctor Who and the Star Beast)

- The newsreader was modelled upon contemporary newsreader Angela Rippon. Rippon herself played the role in the audio adaptation.
