"Origin Zero"

"Origin Zero" was the chosen alias of a hacker who was in contact with P.R.O.B.E.. She was "half-dead" in some metaphysical sense, which allowed her to see ghosts and pathways between universes. She was initially an enemy of P.R.O.B.E., but later became an uneasy ally, or, as Maxie put it, a "frenemy".
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Origins[[edit] | [edit source]]
"Zero" was not actually Origin Zero's last name. Despite the ominous aspects of her nature, she kept a normal life; she had a husband and children, including a son named Joshua. (PROSE: A Honeycomb of Souls)
Meeting P.R.O.B.E.[[edit] | [edit source]]
Brittany Mordley and Maxie Masters were present during "the whole Origin Zero thing". (PROSE: Nowhere Women) The "Origin Zero incident" was also the same event during which Bedevere first came to P.R.O.B.E.'s attention. Following initial enmity, Zero and P.R.O.B.E. came to an understanding and Giles called her to help on several cases, including the "Austere House affair". (PROSE: A Honeycomb of Souls)
The Morch'aliach affair[[edit] | [edit source]]
When teaming up with Ganeida to fight Morch'aliach, Giles and the rest of the Preternatural Research Bureau recruited Origin Zero's help, meeting her in an above-ground parking garage. She accompanied them into the basement where the Morch'aliach entity had made its lair, helping the other members of the expedition prepare themselves for the visions of the dead with which Morch'aliach would try to torment them.
After they reached the "core" of the entity, she confirmed to the others that she could see actual dead souls trapped within Morch'aliach, rather than mere illusions. This inspired Ganeida to use the power of storytelling combined with the specifics of Bedevere's curse and the nature of the entity to summon additional ghosts, the souls of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Once Morch'aliach had been destroyed, Origin Zero initially wanted to go home at once, but after Giles offered to pay for dinner for the group, she agreed to stay, phoning her husband and son to join her. (PROSE: A Honeycomb of Souls)
Characteristics[[edit] | [edit source]]
Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]
Origin Zero "looked like someone had forgotten to colour her in"; despite looking young, she had white hair, grey eyes, and unnaturally white skin. When operating under her criminal alias, she wore a "violently purple" hoodie (whose hood was tied up by a cord with skull-shaped beads) and a white oval mask, decorated with a crude smiley face fashioned out of purple scotch tape, with "X"-shaped eye-dots.
