Panos Karpidas
Capt Panos Karpidas was a UNIT officer who handled the public-oriented information-based clean-up of Operation Mannequin. Staff Sergeant A. Frederick had a similar job to Karpidas, but her job was focused on dealing with the press.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Capt Panos Karpidas attempted to brief those affected by the "mannequins" during their attack on 28 March 2005, (PROSE: Operation Mannequin) although other accounts dated the attack to 5 March. (TV: Rose, Aliens of London, PROSE: The Secret Lives of Monsters, AUDIO: One Rule, etc.) However, Karpidas found that there were too many casualties over too large of an area, so he hoped to minimise exposure through general misinformation and exaggeration. He used a secure operations board on the UNIT website to inform other UNIT officers of this, also telling them that field operatives had already bombarded Radio Phone-Ins and websites with bogus information, such as: the mannequins could talk, that waxworks were included in the assault, among other things. He concluded by saying that other operatives were outright denying anything had happened, and that they were avoiding linking the incident to actual terrorists. (PROSE: Operation Mannequin)
