Parallel pilot compartments were two bio-configured mechanisms on the Silurian Ark which required two individuals of the same gene chain in each seat to pilot the ship.
Solomon was unable to alter the ship's course to head for the Roxbourne Peninsula after killing all the Silurians on board. Rory Williams and his father, Brian, were able to operate the ship and steer it away from the Earth, as they had the same gene chain. (TV: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship)
