Paul Carson

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Paul Carson was one of the most popular film actors in 2066. He was also a Bereznik spy. In order to oust him once and for all, the British Secret Service recruited his co-star Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward to acquire proof of his crimes.

At the first meeting of the cast in London, Lady Penelope noted Carson's absence and discovered that he usually made it a rule never to come to preliminary script discussions. Feeling insulted by this, she travelled to the London Hilton Hotel to confront him about his behaviour but found him shooting somebody dead. However, this was a misunderstanding because he was actually rehearsing for the film. At the proper rehearsals, Carson insisted that his camera tests were to be carried out before Penelope's. During her test, she was the target of an assassination attempt by Mr Steelman but Carson rudely blamed her for the interruption in proceedings, accusing her of causing "nothing but trouble" since she arrived. Just before they left London to do the location work in California, Parker stole a script from Carson's dressing room, which confirmed he was receving specially-printed coded messages about a scheduled meeting in the Borrego Desert.

On the Fireflash flight to Los Angeles, Carson aggressively asked Lady Penelope for the "real reason" why she accepted the acting job alongside him but she gave him a reply he found satisfactory, namely that she was excited to work with him. His public appearance at the Ritz Theatre one night allowed Penelope and Parker time to investigate the World Government research plant in the Borrego Desert. Filming continued as normal for a time until Carson disappeared from set. Penelope and Parker followed him in FAB 1 using a homing device and saw him receive a roll of film from a security guard. Carson noticed them and threatened the duo at gunpoint but when he actually fired the shot had no effect on their bulletproof vehicle. Wishing to protect his secret, Carson pursued Penelope and Parker in his own car, with the chase moving onto the winding roads of the high hills. Unlike FAB 1, Carson's car was not designed for such terrain at high speed and he was killed in a crash as it careered from a cliffedge. Without their leading star, Century 21 Film Productions cancelled work on the film they were making at the time of his death. (COMIC: Desert Drama)
