A planet once visited by the Second Doctor had no winter.
Because of its consistently mild climate, as well as their vegetarian lifestyle, the locals never had need to discover fire, and so had never seen it until the Doctor arrived. Together, they destroyed the Kraals that were terrorising them. Though only a small portion of the Kraals were then defeated, the Doctor hoped that news of fire would spread to other villages, and the carnivorous plants would soon be extinct.
