An Earth-like planet was home to coconut trees, vultures, camels, black scorpi and a humanoid race. At some point in its history it moved closer to its sun, causing a terrible drought. The people were forced to manufacture their own water supplies by combining gases.
The First Doctor, John and Gillian arrived on this planet, which by then appeared to be mostly desert. They made their way to an oasis, where they were picked up by a local and taken to a nearby plantation. A swarm of black scorpi began eating all the crops, but the Doctor killed them off with a chemical rain which also accelerated the growth of the plants the scorpi had eaten.
