Plant (Plant Life)

In 2008, Torchwood Three recovered an alien plant which had travelled to Cardiff through the Cardiff Space-Time Rift. This plant species was telepathic, and could manipulate beings such as humans into nurturing it at their own expense. It was short and bore only a few green leaves, had a proboscis which it used to drink blood from its hosts, and had dense white roots which flailed when exposed to air. The plant could also hiss when under threat.

The plant recovered by Torchwood Three was kept in the Hothouse, where Ianto Jones cared for it. Ianto quickly became obsessed with the plant, sacrificing his own sleep and hygiene to look after it. When Jack Harkness discovered Ianto feeding the plant his own blood he quickly pulled Ianto away and then destroyed the plant by stamping on it. (PROSE: Plant Life)
