Cardinal Pontormo was in charge of the Crow Gallery around 1800.
In his office he had the only surviving copy of Preslin's thesis On Co-incidence as a Disease as well as a copy of the Secret Travelogues of the Khan-Balik Caravan.
He examined the transformed Raphael when he was brought there in a French cargo ship, before consigning him to the deepest level of the Gallery. (PROSE: Christmas on a Rational Planet)
