Power Elite

Power Elite was a scientific government organisation founded by Liz Shaw. It stressed science and rationality. It was responsible for the SunTrap.
When the Third Doctor opposed some of Power Elite's actions, Liz had him cryogenically suspended but continued to use the knowledge from his brain.
Some of the former members of UNIT, including John Benton and Mike Yates, opposed Power Elite and engaged in terrorist attacks against it.
The Time Lords sent another version of the Third Doctor to revert this timeline; when he did so, the Liz from his timeline agreed to not use her knowledge to create Power Elite. (PROSE: Prisoners of the Sun)
