In 43 AD, during Claudius's involvement in the Roman conquest of Britain, Lucius Geta, recently made the commander of eight cohorts of Praetorian Guards, accompanied the Emperor into the field. He was not yet the true Praetorian Prefect, but he "hoped to get there" if he made a good enough impression with Emperor Claudius, which, aware of Claudius's paranoid tendencies, he achieved by being inordinately fussy and suspicious at all times.
