A gigantic proton-beam projector was assembled by a Dalek mission on the planet Mercury, with the intent of firing it at Earth and Venus. However, it was spotted by the "heroic" Space Security Service pilot Commander "Z", who managed to destroy it at the cost of his own life by causing his ship to explode while flying above the projector.
