Their songs "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Don't Stop Me Now" have all been used in Doctor Who. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was sung by Donna Noble and her fellow refugees in Turn Left, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was played at Amy Pond and Rory Williams' wedding reception in The Big Bang and "Don't Stop Me Now" was covered by Foxes for Mummy on the Orient Express.
Freddie Mercury was the lead singer of Queen. The band's lead guitarist, Brian May, is married to Mrs Flood actress Anita Dobson.
In The Christmas Invasion, the placement of the Sycorax in their video broadcast was based on Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" video. A scene in the series 2 blooper reel shows the Sycorax actors singing the song during a break in filming.
In the behind-the-scenes video included with the VHS release of Mindgame, the cast jokingly sing "Bohemian Rhapsody" during a break in filming.
The cast of Torchwood also sing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the Series 2 outtakes.
