In Norse mythology, Ragnarok was the final battle between the gods of good and evil at the end of the world, after which Earth will be reborn.

Commander Millington was obsessed with Norse mythology at Maiden's Point and prepared for Ragnarok in 1943 in his search for the flask that contained Fenric, upon whose resurrection Millington mused "the gods have lost the final battle." Fenric himself used aspects of Ragnarok in his games, including his name which was based on the wolf Fenrir, calling his servants his "wolves", and calling Ingiger the "Great Serpent", all of which were figures in the myth. The Gods of Ragnarok may have taken their name from the myth, or may have been named by Rassilon after the myth. (TV: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, PROSE: Divided Loyalties)

"Gotterdammerung" was the German form of the word Ragnarok, which meant "Twilight of the Gods" or "Dawn of the Gods" depending on the translation. (PROSE: Falls the Shadow)
