Reginald V. Jones was a physicist who worked closely with the British Army.
He was tasked with examining the "Ironside" machines. Jones met with Edwin Bracewell, their purported creator, and wrote a memo addressed to Winston Churchill and general Ismay. In the memo, Jones wrote that Bracewell's Ironsides were "every bit impressive as we have been led to believe", and went on to state that he saw no reason not to begin mass production of the machines. While Reginald Jones's middle name of Victor is not stated in The Secret Lives of Monsters [+]Loading...["The Secret Lives of Monsters (short story)"], the signature of "R. V. Jones" in the story shows that this character is unambiguously intended to be the real world physicist.
