The Rutan Army was a branch of the Rutan Empire's military.
During the Rutan empire's war with the Sontarans, the army started withdrawing to a number of strongholds, leading the Fourth Doctor to believe the Rutans were losing the war. (TV: Horror of Fang Rock)
