Miss Rutherford was Professor Ralph Cornish's assistant at Space Control. She informed Professor Cornish and Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart of her belief that Recovery 7's solar batteries had experienced excess electricity.
Later, Miss Rutherford told Professor Cornish that Houston had made contact and that he would have to bring down Recovery 7 on remote control. She assisted in the landing of Recovery 7 and celebrated when they were successful. (TV: The Ambassadors of Death)
