Sanguinarian

Sanguinarian

Sanguinarians were ordinary humans who drunk each other's blood as a consensual pastime. As far as P.R.O.B.E. knew, most sanguinarian groups were genuinely just ordinary people with an "odd craving", not a cover for vampires or other supernatural activities; as such, P.R.O.B.E. mostly left them alone.

In 2021, following a strange experience reported by a friend-of-a-friend of Liz Haggard's called Sally, P.R.O.B.E. investigated a particular, mysterious member of the sanguinarian group Sally had been falling in with, Ichor. Ichor's blood seemed to act almost like a drug on those who partook of it, and the last session Sally had attended had devolved into an orgy, something which did not typically happen — with Sally herself sleeping with Ichor, only to forget all details of the encounter save that it had occurred.

After Ichor was found dead, having hanged himself in a graveyard, P.R.O.B.E. discovered that he was actually a Greek god, hence why his blood had been particularly popular with the group. While they feasted on his freely-given ichor, he had, in turn, been harvesting their life force to fulfill the uneven terms of the deal he had made with a ghost to be allowed back onto the mortal plane. Unhappy with this state of affairs, Ichor had killed himself to put an end to his psychic bond with the ghost, but not before ensuring that his semi-divine bloodline would continue through the child he had conceived with Sally.
