Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
During World War II, Grubb served in the Home Guard. He was proud that he opened the shop every day at 6:00 a.m. since the war. (AUDIO: Doctor Who and the Iron Legion)
Grubb was shot and killed by the First Cohort of the Ninth Legion when the Iron Legion invaded the town. (COMIC: Doctor Who and the Iron Legion)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The original comic story Doctor Who and the Iron Legion did not explicitly give him a name, even though the name of his store J. Grubb General Store suggested his last name was Grubb. This was later confirmed in the audio adaptation Doctor Who and the Iron Legion of the story.
- Nine years after the invasion of the Iron Legion, another Grubb from Stockbridge, the shopkeeper of Grubb and Sons, had a nickname "Young" Grubb despite not really being all that young. The relationships between these two (and the sons of Grubb and Sons) was never clarified.
