Single Write Female was a 2|entertain DVD documentary about the career of one-time Doctor Who writer Barbara Clegg.

It begins with Clegg recalling driving home to see her ill father when a child. When she was coming up the drive and saw a car laden with flowers, she instantly knew he was dead. She speaks about her background. Clegg found out that her great-grandmother had been in a travelling theatre. With this in mind, she joined a touring theatre. After her acting was received positively, she played more major roles and eventually toured Australia.

Clegg began a writing career with most of her work orientated around radio. After this she moved onto television and chose to do Doctor Who as it pleased her children.
