Smythe (The War Games)

Smythe was the name used by one of the War Lords when he posed as a general in the British Army in their simulated version of World War I. This was part of his people's plan to use human soldiers to forge a mighty army to conquer the galaxy.

Smythe was the first to learn of the Second Doctor's presence on their world, and attempted to have him executed, using his glasses to plant "suggestions" into the minds of his subordinates, allowing him to convince the jury that the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe were all guilty of being German spies.
Smythe was later shot and killed by Russell when the resistance attacked his headquarters before he could reclaim the processing machine which was stolen by the Doctor. (TV: The War Games)
