Driver Joe worked alongside [[Mechanic Claude]] and the [[Hostess]] on board the Crusader. When [[The Doctor]] entered the cockpit after the vehicle stopped, he convinced Joe and Claude to lift the shield for a moment to see what [[Midnight]] looked like, so they opened the shields to look outside. As the radiation went up to a lethal level, Joe decided to shut them down again. The same moment, [[Claude]] saw something, describing it as a "Shadow", running towards their shuttle, but Joe dismissed his claim.
