He was well regarded by the people who lived in the Hooverville, and a great admirer of its leader, [[Solomon]].  His main source of income during the Depression was through low-paying construction jobs offered by [[Mr. Diagoras]].  Most of these jobs revolved around the construction of the [[Empire State Building]].  On one occasion, he, [[Solomon]], the [[Tenth Doctor|Doctor]] and [[Martha Jones|Martha]] were required to go down to sewers and correct a tunnel collapse.  Along the way, he was separated from the rest of the party when [[Pig Slaves]] grabbed him and pulled him back into the sewers.  Solomon and the Doctor tried in vain to rescue him, but he was believed lost.
