Is the ninth doctors screwdriver different from the ones used by the tenth in his earlier adventures? The ninth doctor's seems to emit a small beam of light/energy when in use, most notable in rose and world war three. :In-story, Ten keeps the same sonic as Nine until it gets fried in Smith and Jones. All New Series sonics have a bulb that lights up at the end when it activates. In production, the sonic may light up or not due to a faulty prop or due to other lights or glares or the angle of the camera obscuring the light from view.
