I know that the summary on this site states that Vastra killed Strax when his demeanor changed, but that's not the impression I took from the episode - to me, it looks like Strax went to attack Vastra, and Vastra raised her gun to defend herself, but then Strax was erased from time before she could take action. I feel like this is supported by the fact that there's no visible discharge from her gun, and the way she yelled "Strax!" after he vanished was panicked and uncertain - not the response of someone who just shot the person after whom she's yelling.
