If there is ever an Assault Dalek article, it needs to be backed up by something more than the merchandise. (Also remember to sign your comments on talk or forum pages, it's the button third from the right on the row of buttons above the text box, it looks like part of a signature, or you can add it via four tildes (~), the symbol next to the 1 on a keyboard whilst holding shift: <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>). --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] 12:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

:The Doctor Who Wiki RARDIS Index File ''does'' consider a lot of things that haven't appeared on TV as canon.

On this wiki there is generally just one canon, the idea of 'expanded universe' or secondary canon was explored early in this wiki's inception (when inspiration was sought from other wikias), but has since been discontinued owning to the complex nature of the Doctor Who universe.

:There is some what of a difference between fandom and a wikia, can you cite a similar example within the wikias that also uses merchandise as a valid resource?

:As I said before, if there is a primary resource that can back up the name of the Assault Dalek then it may qualify for an article of its own, or a sentence or two within the [[Dalek variants]] article. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] 13:05, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

::On this wiki, as you can see what is in the canon policy is what is in, 'strong fan support' is something I'd rather not have anywhere near policy as fan support can really mean anything.
::I'm not sure the Transformers wiki is a good example, as I noted on the canon policy talk page the figures don't have any meaning in and of themselves, only their source texts give them meaning, so the source texts are the canon, rather than the toys. Also the TARDIS wiki is a little more formal than the Transformers wiki. All in-universe articles are written past tense from the imagined point of view of looking back from the the end of the universe sort of thing. I was looking for an example similar to this wiki's situation, I had a look at the Wookipedia, (the Star Wars wiki), which has a pool of references in the same bredth as this wiki, their merchandise information is in a separate wiki, something I don't think should be done here.
::I added the Gone to Pot tag as the article has no information on it. The information is in fact already covered on the [[Character Options action figures]] page. I'm not sure what repeating the information on a separate page brings that the Character Options action figures page doesn't.
::Also the image doesn't enlighten on to what it's talking about, is the page [[Character Options: 5" Action Figures Series One]] just about the Assault Dalek? Or is it about all the other figures that are a part of the 5" from Series One series? (The Character Options action figures again makes this more clear with its tables, links, and divided sections)
::The [[Character Options action figures]] has everything some what organised, with images illustrating exactly what is in each figure.
::As for cleanup vs stub etc see [[Tardis:Templates#Cleanup Tags]]. But quick info; stubs are used for articles that can have more information added but have the right formatting and basic info. Gone to Pot articles are in need of major work.
::Also some other notes. I would advise against copying information from the address bar when creating wikilinks as it leaves in the underscore making it tricky to read links placed on pages. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] 15:43, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
