*This book apparently takes place between [[Planet of Giants (TV story)]] and [[The Dalek Invasion of Earth (TV story)]]. Unfortunately, POF flows directly into TDIOE, meaning there's no gap to place this story.

::We used to think that [[Planet of Fire (TV story)]] flowed directly into [[The Caves of Androzani (TV story)]], yet Big Finish seems to have found a way around that. Anyway, the ending and beginning scenes in question are ambiguous enough (that ambiguity coming of course from a perspective that finds such an interpretation desirable for the placement of novels such as this one) that, so long as the TARDIS scanner remains on the blink, [[The Time Travellers (novel)]] could conceivably have happened in the interim between the two stories.
