Jane often kept her [[Scruff|dog]] in the laboratory, which greatly annoyed Readon. After the robot, named Robbie, was finished, Readon insisted that she keep the dog out of their work space. That night, Robbie crashed out of the building, marching some distance away. After police and military intervention failed, Readon attempted to approach the robot in person. Robbie, emotionally confused, attacked Readon. Readon ended up in the hospital, but was later informed that Robbie's rampage had been stopped after he was reunited with Francis' dog.
