Steiner was sent on a mission was to find the "[[Eagle]] of ultima Thule", a legendary source of energy sought after by the [[Third Reich]].
 
On [[30 November]] [[1936]], she was operating undercover in [[London]], going under the identity of the [[Archaeology|archaeologist]] "[[Doctor|Dr]] Sophie Renard" of the Societe Archeologique. She found the energy source at the pneumatic [[Railroad|railway]] near the [[Crystal Palace]] with the help of the [[Eleventh Doctor]], who suspected her true intentions, along with the energy source.
 
The Doctor revealed that the energy source was actually a [[Phoenix (species)|phoenix]] [[egg]] and made efforts to keep it away from Steiner. After a short brawl with the Doctor, [[Rory Williams]] and [[Amy Pond]] who tried to keep the egg out of her reach with a game of [[football]], Steiner touched the egg and was burned alive as it hatched, setting [[fire]] to the Crystal Palace.
