Is it that she was actually considered for Martha, or for another companion who, like season 4's never-materialized Penny, got changed into Martha? :::I remember adding that after seeing it mentioned in either a newspaper interview or possibly DWM - I believe it was in the context of her taking the role of the Bionic Woman after being turned down.
