However, this began to cause issues as later stories returned to presenting standing forces of Cybermen in space in the Doctor's universe (rather than intruders from a parallel universe), but used the unique design of the Cybus Cybermen to depict them. The video game The Mazes of Time went so far as to show "Cybus Cybermen", with the characteristic chest logo, in the "Ice Tombs of Telos" section of the game. The Pandorica Opens, where Cybus Cybermen make a token reference to having crossed over from another universe also threatened by the Cracks in Time, was the last explicit appearance of "Pete's World" Cybermen on televised Who; starting with A Good Man Goes to War, the show regularly used a version of the Cybus props who lacked the "C" logo on their chest, allowing viewers to assume that these were simply Mondasian (or otherwise "prime-universe") Cybermen who bore a coincidental design similarity to their parallel-universe cousins.

Indeed a website launched by the BBC for the promotion of Series 2 2, International Electromatics, it had been indicated that Cybus Industries derived their Cyberman technology from the deactivated bodies of alien Cybermen found at the North Pole; this implied that Mondasian Cybermen had actually existed in Pete's World also, thus making it possible that the so-called Cybus Cybermen designs reflected a "natural" Mondasian design, rather than being conditional on the John Lumic origin story peculiar to the Pete's World Cybermen.
