Yeah, I've been thinking about ways to deal with some of the implications. This tool would be useful to analyze how the wiki has evolved over time, but I think I need a level of perms I don't have. Part of my project to look at the evolution of our policies is because of this (making it so newer users are less intimidated by the scope of the precedent, there's a place that has archived a lot of it - even if experienced users are more likely to remember obscure discussions that aren't relevant). Maybe trying to encourage people to not revert new users edits but instead to rewrite them? idk. At the very least we should be getting some work done on it with the new forum system, even if it's not quite in the direction you might want, or I might want. (Which might be slightly at cross purposes in some threads. :P) Najawin ☎ 19:23, 20 March 2023 (UTC) | Yeah, I've been thinking about ways to deal with some of the implications. :Your recent comments on biblical studies have reminded me how much you'll enjoy Foucault's Pendulum and The Name of the Rose. I have Baudolino on my desk waiting to be started. See here. I was thinking of how the wiki used to group stories into arc categories. It was widely agreed to that this was a bad idea due to vagueness. Some of the nuances are gestured towards in the thread, we have a page on the Bad Wolf meme, but we don't have a category for stories that are part of the Bad Wolf arc. Interlinking material between stories is fine as a distinct thing in itself, the stories themselves as discrete events are fine. But when you start trying to actually pull them together into an arc it got vague and messy. Unfortunately we don't have all of the thread, but it looks like OS25's proposal was rejected for whatever reason. We can ask him if he remembers the conclusion.
