:Not sure I follow you, here. Christmas specials are the beginning of the new series. 2005 is the start of 2006 series; 2006 the beginning of the 2007 series, and so on, with the 2009 specials being a bit of an oddity. From a production standpoint, all but the 2008 special have been filmed after a hiatus, so they're clearly not a part of the previous series in terms of production. In terms of marketing, they've '''all''' been in the box set of the next year's stories. And it will be no different with the 2010 special. It's not going to be on the series 5 box set, which will clearly come out before the special is even made.
