He was hired by [[John Nathan-Turner (Earth-33⅓)|John Nathan-Turner]] for his uncanny ability to stuff [[Cyber-ferret]]s down his [[trousers|pants]], playing the [[Seventh Doctor (Earth-33⅓)|Seventh Doctor]] ([[COMIC]]: [[Doctor Who? (DWM 128 comic story)|''Doctor Who?'' 128]])

At the start of his tenure in [[1987]], McCoy told John Nathan-Turner that he wished to play the Seventh Doctor with all the conflicting characteristics of his predeccesors. This proved tricky because McCoy was much shorter than [[Colin Baker (Earth-33⅓)|his predecessor]] and his face did not actually poke out of the shirt at all, nor his hands from the sleeves, if he squeezed himself into the outfit.
