As Sezhyr decides to kill Ace first, Creevy rushes in and distracts the warriors, allowing Ace to put the orb in reverse before giving it to Sezhyr. Almost immediately, Sezhyr's helmet begins to reject its wearer. As Sezhyr dies, he orders his warriors to return to Mars, stating that the past is dead.

Raina has been returned to normal, but is struggling to breathe. Ace gives Glarva Sezhyr's helmet. With the energy cell back in their possession, the Ice Warriors decide to leave the other relics and return to Mars in order to forget about the past. Raina is delighted to see Markus Creevy standing over her, and when she asks where her baby is, Markus tells her that she is fine. The group exits the warehouse as the Ice Warriors' ship begins to take off. The Doctor notices that Ace has vanished and wonders if the Time Lords have taken her away.

The Doctor notices that Ace has vanished and wonders if the Time Lords have taken her to the academy without letting him say goodbye to her.

Raina and Markus are reunited with their baby, Raine, and the Doctor decides to leave the relics with them both whilst checking up on them. He then sprinkles fish finger bread crumbs over Raine just like the Babushkas do as a sign of prosperity and good luck. After leaving Markus and Raina, the Doctor is contacted by the Adjudicator who tells him that the assessment board has turned down Ace's application for the academy due to the Doctor's constant interference. Angered, the Doctor tells him that he could have been informed before they started the process.

Ace is calling for someone to take her to Perivale. As she rings the doorbell of a house, the Doctor approaches her, but Ace is hurt by the Doctor keeping secrets from her. The Doctor apologizes to Ace for trying to send her to the Time Lord Academy when she didn't want to go, admitting that he didn't like the academy either. He then tells Ace that her mother doesn't live in the house that Ace is at for another five years, but Ace replies that she wanted to see her house before she goes to Gallifrey.

After she is told that she won't be going to Gallifrey, Ace admits that the year 1967 is disappointing due to not seeing a single [[hippie]] on the streets. She then accepts the Doctor's offer of giving her more responsibility and they make their way back to the TARDIS.
