Through Toby, the Beast's first action was to kill Scooti Manista. He did this shortly after possessing him. She had gone to his room to give him papers. However, she was unfortunate enough to hear Toby leaving through the air lock. She went to the airlock to investigate. She couldn't get a straight answer and eventually the computer said "He is awake" and "He bathes in the black sun" After a shutter opened she found Toby standing outside without a space suit. Then Toby began trying to tempt her to join them. She was hypnotized for a few moments. Soon she refused. Then the Beast had Toby clench his fist and begin breaking the window. She gasped in fear and tried to escape. However, the Beast had sealed the section. The window was soon torn apart. Then the young Scooti was pulled out of the section by the rushing air kicking and screaming. The Base's Ood were taken over, causing them to attack the other members of the Expedition. Upon the Ood's defeat, the Beast planned to escape by keeping his spirit in Toby's body, leaving his physical body behind. The Doctor deactivated the force holding Krop Tor in orbit.

However, she was unfortunate enough to hear Toby leaving through the air lock. She went to the airlock to investigate. She couldn't get a straight answer and eventually the computer said "He is awake" and "He bathes in the black sun" After that she had backed away and saw a shutter open. She found Toby under his control standing outside without a space suit. Then Toby began trying to tempt her to join them. She was hypnotized for a few moments, and by the end was nearly in tears. Soon she refused however and yelled at Toby to stop. Then the Beast had Toby clench his fist and begin breaking the window. Scooti gasped in fear and tried to escape. However, the Beast had sealed the section, trapping her.  She screamed at the top of her lungs for the door to open but the Beast's power kept it shut. Then, the window was torn apart. Then the young Scooti was pulled out of the section by the rushing air kicking and screaming. Later after Ida and the Doctor went down to investigate the bottom of the mine shaft, the Base's Ood were taken over, causing them to attack the other members of the Expedition. Upon the Ood's defeat, the Beast planned to escape by keeping his spirit in Toby's body, leaving his physical body behind. The Doctor deactivated the force holding Krop Tor in orbit.

His spirit was destroyed when Toby's body was pulled into the black hole, followed shortly by the Beast's original body, which was destroyed along with Krop Tor. However, he claimed that he would never be truly destroyed. (DW: The Satan Pit) This could be supported by the Doctor's words that the Beast is an idea, not to mention the fact that the Beast's mind was detachable from its body, and neither an idea nor a mind can be destroyed by a physical construct, like a black hole.
