'''''Terror of the Vervoids''''' was the unbroadcast title given to the third story of ''The Trial of a Time Lord'', the season-long story arc that covered [[season 23]] of ''[[Doctor Who]]''. While the previous stories of the season delved into past adventures of the [[Sixth Doctor]], this story examined the Doctor's pending future. Using that anachronistic style, it introduced [[Bonnie Langford]] as [[companion]] [[Melanie Bush]], deviating from the formulaic structure where a stranger found themselves meeting the Doctor for the first time, and vice versa. Instead, her character was a future companion that the Doctor had yet to meet - something later repeated with the character [[River Song]] [[Silence in the Library (TV story)|22 years later]].

On [[23 September (releases)|23 September]] [[2019 (releases)|2019]], [[Season 23]] was released on [[Blu-ray]] Box Set with updated special effects, in which this story was also edited into a [[Terror of the Vervoids (home video)|standalone story]]. With it, a unique new [[title sequence]] was created by fan [[Robert Ritchie|Rob Ritchie]].
