After the opening of [[the Valley]], a temporal rift leading to the [[Pre-Time War universe|time before the Time War]], the War Doctor took the TARDIS to investigate but was poisoned with [[temporal toxaemia]] by the [[Third Power]] who took the TARDIS for themselves. The Third Power used the TARDIS as a wedge to keep the Valley open so they could use it for safe refugee routes.
